Local Author Seeks Support to Publish Book on Gambling Addiction

A local writer has penned a powerful book aimed at supporting those affected by gambling addiction and is seeking help to publish it. Frome author Dianne Sangster's book, Flutter, chronicles her emotional journey of marrying a secret gambler and their shared fight to overcome the addiction that impacted their lives.

“Compulsive gambling affects thousands of people every day and is often very hard for members of their families to identify and then deal with,” Dianne explained. “If my book helps increase awareness of the problem and the resources available out there to help, then all the hours of writing and editing will have been worth it.”

To fund the self-publishing of Flutter, Dianne launched a Kickstarter campaign, which has already surpassed half its goal and runs until December 8.

“I am so grateful to all the people who have supported me so far, including my family, friends, and Frome Writers’ Collective’ Dianne shared. She also dedicated the book to her late husband, Tony, who passed away from cancer but showed immense courage in battling his addiction.

Through Flutter, Dianne hopes to inspire others to seek understanding, compassion, and solutions for overcoming gambling's grip.
